Friday Favorites: Eyelash Tricks!

Happy Friday everyone! One question I get asked about A LOT is my eyelashes and if they are real. The answer is yes :) If you follow me on Snapchat (@mallorysauer) then you saw me talk about the products I use for long lashes. I've listed them all for you below!

1. Latisse MD

I've been using Latisse for a while now. I will say that I didn't start to notice results right away. It wasn't until I was almost done with the first bottle that I really noticed a difference. But from chatting with other Latisse users, that sounds pretty standard. I'm on my third bottle now and it works great. For my first and second bottle I used the serum every single night. Once I started seeing results I backed off to using it 3-4 times a week. I still maintain results and don't have to use as much product.

I get Latisse at a local Medi spa. I've also seen it at eye doctors offices. It is a little pricey so if that's out of your range, THIS is a great alternative that works just as well. I'll be switching over once I finish my current bottle of Latisse.

2. L'Oreal Voluminous Superstar Mascara

I love this mascara, primarily for the primer (white) end. I use two coats of the white, and let it almost dry in between coats. Once the second coat is almost dry, I use one quick coat of the black end.

3. L'Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara

I LOVE this mascara. So so much. I've been using it forever and it's my absolute FAVORITE! After I apply the first mascara, I build two coats with this one. One little trick, when it's almost dry, push your lashes up and hold them like that for a few seconds. I love this mascara because it is buildable, so if I need to apply another coat later in the day I can and it doesn't get super clumpy.

Ok that's it! This post makes the process look long but I promise it's not. Hope this helps! Do you have any good eyelash tricks?

Glo Minerals Makeup Review

Hi friends! After a little bit of a hiatus I FINALLY have a new blog post for you! Today I am doing my first beauty post and reviewing some fun things from Glo Minerals!

I received these products from Glo Minerals a little over a month ago, and wanted to make sure I spent some time using all the products before giving a review. See below for each product, the steps I took, and my thoughts on each product.

First, a little information about Glo:

The first product I used was their Luxe Liquid Foundation SPF 15. Now let me preface, I have very oily skin, so luxe foundations don't typically get along with my skin type. However, I've been wanting to try a luxe foundation because I love the dewy effect they give. I was excited to try this one because it has SPF 15. Knowing that my oily skin would have trouble with this foundation, I prepped my skin with a mattifying primer.

I used the Glo Minerals Luxe Foundation Brush to apply a nickel-size amount of foundation all over the face. After using this foundation for a while I can tell you, a little goes a long way.

I use the brush to stipple the foundation all over the face and make sure it's all blended.

Next, I used the Luxe Liquid Bright Concealer. This little guy doubles as a highlight and a concealer. Score! I'm definitely a highlight/contour junkie so this product is a home run for me. A couple clicks and you're ready to go! I draw three little lines underneath my eyes and dab with my finger to blend underneath my eyes.

Did I already mention that my skin is oily? Well it is. On top of using a mattifying primer, I set the foundation with the Glo Minerals Loose Matte Finishing Powder. Between this powder and the primer, my skin was able to handle this foundation and still have that dewy look I was after.

Using the Glo Minerals Luxe Setting Powder Brush, I swirled the brush in the powder, tapped off the excess and dusted all over the place.

Now moving on to the eyes. I used the Metallic Smoky Eye kit and let me tell you, I'm in LOVE. The shades of brown are beautiful and definitely make my blue eyes pop. Furthermore, they last all day! No creasing here. Score!

I finished the eye look off with a little bit of black mascara. I currently use this mascara and LOVE it.

A little trick... wait until your mascara is almost dry and push lashes up with your fingers.

Finally, I used the Suede Matte Crayon in color Trademark. This is the perfect 'Kylie Jenner' lip color. AND there is a sharpener in the cap of the lip crayon. How cool is that? I love the creamy feel of this crayon, but you still get that matte effect.

Here is the finished look!

Overall thoughts:

I love this foundation and love how it feels on the skin. Due to my oily skin, it's definitely not a wear every day foundation for me. I have 10+ hour days and need foundation to hold up and stick to my skin. I wear the Glo Minerals Luxe foundation on nights out or special occasions. I love the way these products feel, and they're good for your skin too! Their formulations are award-winning and for good reason. Packed with tons of good stuff (think vitamins, sun protection, etc.) their products aren't too harsh on the face. I've had a ton of fun playing around with different eye looks using the Smoky Eye palette and different lip crayons. I give Glo Minerals an A! I have tons of information if you'd like to know more!
